Sometimes human's immune system can react to certain animal proteins. Because of this, pet allergy occurs. If patient has pet allergy, his organism generated an allergy-causing antibodies to the proteins that are founded an animal's skin cells, saliva or urine. Symptoms of Pet Allergy
The most common symptoms of pet allergy are sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, postnasal drip, itchy nose and roof of mouth or throat, cough, facial pressure and pain. In addition to this, for some people, pet allergy can be only the primary cause of inflammation and contraction of airways and lungs. Because of this, medical condition, better known as asthma, can occur. Asthma usually is characterized by symptoms including wheezing, shortness of breath and some other breathing difficulties.
Test for Pet Allergy
The most common allergic reactions are to pets like cats, dogs, rodents, rabbits. In some rare cases, people can be allergic to birds, fishes or even reptiles. Nowadays, it is available to make some tests and find out what people are allergic to. Doctors-allergists can do skin tests that show what exactly can cause the allergic reaction in patient's organism. This test is based on tiny drop of purified allergen extracts. This drop is left on the skin for 15 minutes and then the results of allergic test can be seen. The itchy skin, which occurs in the area where allergen was injected and organism created the allergic reaction, usually go away within 30 minutes.
